After many years of absence, we had planned to make a return
visit to the Park last year. However, life got in the way (for
a number of reasons). That being said, we have travel
arrangements booked, and will be at the Park next week (short
trip - arriving Monday and departing Saturday).
Back when we used to regularly visit the Park (a few years
after dinosaurs went extinct, if I remember correctly!), wolf
watching activity was primarily focused between the first Butte
after the turn onto the road toward Lamar (Junction Butte?),
through Little America, Slough Creek, various parts of the
Lamar Valley, ending at Pebble Creek.
I've done a little recent research, and it sounds like wolf
activity is somewhat more dispersed these days. I see
references to packs visible in Hayden Valley, Blacktail
Plateau, and a few other areas. But much of the info seems a
bit dated online.
Any recommendation/guidance would be most appreciated.
We'll be staying in Gardner the first few days, and West the
last couple, so we'll probably be more wolf focused those first
few days. Hope to see a few familiar faces again while we are
there.
All the Best,
Michael
