That is really bad news, but I think simply surviving brain surgery for an aneurysm is a major positive. My father has a couple abdominal aortic aneurysms, and was told by the docs that if one of those bursts, it's lights out. The fact that your wife is exhibiting some cognition is an additional positive. I hope her progress continues over time. It's not unusual for people with brain injuries to make progress very gradually, slowly over time, but then, sometimes, when everyone has gotten used to a certain less than desirable condition, they make a burst of progress that stuns everybody, including the physicians.
I'm concerned about your use of the word "increasing" to describe your situation. What's going on with you? Is it the cancer, or did something else pop up?
