I was out of town for an extended weekend, and never got around to opening my laptop. This is such sad news! I kept hoping that either Bonnie was making a sarcastic joke back in April when she made her announcement, or somehow she would bounce back, the way she has in the past. She really did surmount incredible odds to gain an extra year or two of life.

To refer to Bonnie as "a fighter" is understatement. I feel mixed emotions, as I'm sure many others do, about having encouraged that fighting spirit over the last couple years. It subjected her to so much pain and mental strife, only to lose the battle.

Bonnie has a long list of accomplishments, yet you can see in her admonition to everyone, "Don't wait to live", her frustration at not being able to accomplish some long held goals. She shared her frustrations and her victories with all of us.

While I feel the loss of Bonnie profoundly, I find solace in the fact that she is free of the unrelenting pain and suffering that she endured.

What a talent, gone too soon!
