Back in the early 1960s, we found the well-defined "footprint" of a cellar or basement of a structure in a broad stretch of forest west of where we lived, in the foothills of the mountains. This was far from any existing development, and there was no visible trace of any road nearby. It had "walls" constructed of flat rocks that lined the floor and walls. We were in our early teens, and got excited about the possibility that it could be several hundred years old, since that area had seen early Dutch settlement in the 1600s.
