We got the results of the MRI back this morning & thank goodness, the ligaments in her knee are just strained. Nothing torn not even the meniscus!
However when she fell, the impact jammed the bones that make up her knee together hard enough to cause some pretty intense bruising of the bones themselves which was clearly visible on the MRI and will take quite a while to heal. Still, it s better than a torn ligament She ll be in the ankle-to-thigh brace for at least a couple more weeks to keep the knee stabilized & will be starting physical therapy later this week for probably another 4-6 weeks before being cut loose to run again.
Yay! The orthopedist had initially thought she had done some serious damage to her MCL as well as her meniscus so we were expecting the worst this morning. The final diagnosis was definitely a pleasant surprise!
Not only will she be good to go for the upcoming archery competitions but she should be healed in time to referee spring soccer as well!
