I've always believed in the value of trees in Earth's design, and it saddens me when trees on large plots of land are cut down. It's especially a shame when the giant redwoods and sequoias after growing thousands of years are taken down. The quality of our air and I guess the role of rain from trees is very important and affects our lives. With settlement in America there were a lot of trees removed for agriculture, and now more are removed for building housing and commercial buildings. Thankfully, there are people who are still planting trees.

Your premise that trees communicate is hard for this Missouri Show Me gal to digest, but maybe fast evolution may play into it. Bugs somehow communicate, but trees?
