Hi Mark,

I have wondered about you from time to time, hoping all has been well. Apparently, things are going REALLY WELL. CONGRATULATIONS!!

I still remember the nickname Allison bestowed on you. It had to do with your hair color. Wow, that girl had a way with words!

I still giggle every time I recall that time the blue grouse startled us on the Beaver Pond Loop. It's one of those myriad Yellowstone moments that stick with you for the long run.

I'm glad to hear that Ashley, LoriD, and your father were able to attend the wedding.

Another memorable Yellowstone moment was the evening LoriD met us at the west end of the Mary Mountain hike, with a cooler full of cold pop and yummy carbo-intense treats. She was an Angel of Mercy!

I have a boatload of questions, but I will probably put them in an e-mail. I will pose a few here, and leave it to your discretion whether you want to answer them in such a public forum.

1.) Where did you get married?

2.) Where are you living these days?

3.) What line of work are you in? How about Tim?

I'm actually in temporary exile from Yellowstone country, having met and married someone who got an offer she could not refuse, to work in Alaska.

She is actually a faculty member of your Seattle alma mater technically, but is employed by the University of Alaska Anchorage, as head of their WWAMI program. As such, she flies in and out of Seattle for regional dean's meetings periodically throughout the school year. Occasionally, I accompany her, particularly if there is a compelling reason, like a Husky football game.

I don't know if you and Erik Hendrickson, who worked for the NPS in Mammoth, ever met, but you might have, if you were both on the same hike. Erik works in Denali these days. We have hiked Denali together, and even did some off-trail wandering. He remains the most extreme birder I have come across.

I'll save the rest for an e-mail. Thanks for sharing the good news with what Loons still hang out on this chat page.
