I've seen contemporary watercolor paintings by a person who was with Gen. Albert Pike as an engineer in 1861-62, views of the Wichita Mountains.
Are those in the same general area? Does anyone know anything about Pike's Confederate operations? I read Pike resigned his commission because the Confederacy misused the Native American allies he had recruited. My engineer quit his post and moved to the Treadegar Foundry in Feb. 1862.
