With reference to Lynnette's hike and photo essay foe Hudson-Meng site (a place I haven't been to yet - well done!), may I recall the famous painting by Catlin of the skull circle? Those were human, but archies have found bison skull alignments on the plains in Montana, and an arrangement of deer skulls in a site in Wyoming. Western Montana is kind of famous for trees with big horn sheep skulls placed in them for the wood to grow around. And several people have lugged individual bison skulls to the tops of several prominent peaks...the one in the Enclosure on the Grand comes to mind, while a hiker found a lone skull on one of the high peaks of the Bighorn range. It was done!
